The 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party Nigeria, Peter Obi, has felicitated with Nigerian Muslims on the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, calling on them to sustain the virtues of the holy month of Ramadan.

In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, signed by Ibrahim Umar, spokesman of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR), Obi congratulated the Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the 30-day fast, describing the occasion as a powerful reminder of faith, discipline, selflessness and devotion to Almighty Allah.

“I join you with heartfelt joy as we celebrate Eid al-Fitr, the blessed festival that marks the successful completion of the sacred month of Ramadan,” he said.

He commended Muslims for their commitment to fasting, prayer, charity and spiritual reflection during the period, noting that such values serve as an inspiration not only to the Muslim ummah but to all Nigerians.

According to him, the lessons of compassion, humility, patience and unity demonstrated during Ramadan should not end with the season but should continue to shape individual conduct and national life.

Obi further noted that Nigeria is currently facing significant challenges, including economic hardship and insecurity, stressing the need for collective responsibility and unity.

“In these challenging times for our nation, the spirit of Eid should strengthen our resolve to stand together, extend kindness to the vulnerable, promote peace across communities and reject all forms of division,” he said.

He urged citizens to work towards building a just, equitable and prosperous country where every Nigerian can thrive.

The former Anambra State governor also prayed for the acceptance of the faithful’s عبادah (acts of worship), seeking divine forgiveness, mercy and blessings for families and the nation at large.

“May this Eid bring immense joy, renewed hope, good health and abundant blessings to all. May we continue to build bridges of understanding, love and unity as one people under God,” Obi added.
