The Brisa Women Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering women and girls, is marking a decade of transformative work in communities across Nigeria.
Founded by Delphine Onyinye Nwachukwu the organization has been instrumental in promoting economic independence, personal growth, and social welfare among women.
In the well attended event in Lagos, on Saturday, 28th June, the foundation also used the occasion to launch ‘Empower Plate’, a global food and medicine drive that will build a bank. It is a food and medicine bank.
Over the past 10 years, Brisa Women Foundation has empowered single Women, widows and the vulnerable Providing training and support systems to promote self-sufficiency, including skills acquisition, entrepreneurship training, and financial literacy.
While interacting with journalists at the event, Mrs Nwachukwu, said the organisation is all about empowering women.
“Brisa Women’s Foundation is all about empowering women. Making sure that every woman has a skill to cater to herself, her family, and also her community, which is very paramount,” she said.
She noted further; “There’s a saying that an empowered woman is an empowered nation. So we have the ability to empower people around us. Besides our immediate families, we also have the ability to empower our communities.
“So this is the essence of Brisa Women’s Foundation.”
On what Empower Plate is all about, the founder noted; “Empower Plate is a global food and medicine drive that will build a bank. To reiterate this fact, we have been doing this for 10 years. 10 years for a fact that there is no time in the course of the year, which is six months that we don’t provide food and medicine. The records are there.
The Foundation has offered educational scholarships to less privileged children and organized parenting seminars to increase parents’ knowledge and confidence.
Also the group has continued to Promote Healthcare by facilitating access to healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable groups.
Brisa has fostered Community Development engaging women and children in small towns with education, counseling, and support to help them stand on their own despite societal challenges
Mrs Nwachukwu envisions a future where the organization expands its reach globally, establishing empowerment hubs across the world and impacting millions of lives through sustainable education, healthcare, and training.
With a focus on building economic independence and personal growth for women, Brisa Women Foundation is poised to continue making a lasting impact in communities.
