The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has cautioned Nigerians against fake recruitment portals allegedly inviting applicants for job placement interviews at various locations.
The Commission disassociated itself from what it described as a “job scam,” warning that a purported recruitment portal circulating online and inviting applicants for a technical and practical screening exercise is fake.
In a statement made available to journalists in Minna, the Head of Press and Public Affairs Department of N-HYPPADEC, Nura Tanko Wakili, said the information being circulated by scammers is false and misleading and should be completely disregarded.
Wakili cautioned unemployed Nigerians, particularly youths, against falling victim to fraudsters, noting that such fake invitations could endanger their lives as they pursue non-existent job interviews that do not emanate from the Commission.
“N-HYPPADEC is currently not conducting any recruitment exercise at its headquarters in Minna, Borgu or anywhere else,” the statement said.
According to the Commission, its attention was drawn to a purported invitation for a technical and practical screening exercise allegedly scheduled to hold at the Kainji Hydropower Station, New Bussa, Niger State.
“The information is false, misleading and intended to defraud unsuspecting job seekers and members of the public, as the invitation did not emanate from N-HYPPADEC,” the statement added.
The Commission urged members of the public to disregard the fake recruitment exercise and portals, and advised Nigerians to always verify information through N-HYPPADEC’s official communication channels to avoid being defrauded.
