A touching moment unfolded during the recent disbursement of ₦64 million in school fees under Senator Victor Umeh’s Scholarship Scheme for students across Anambra Central Senatorial District.

The event, which drew 326 beneficiaries from various communities, highlighted the Senator’s ongoing commitment to Education and Student Welfare. However, one Testimony stood out and captured the hearts of many in attendance.

Miss Nkechi Angela Nwafor, a visually impaired Sociology student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, and native of Uruezeani Village, Alor in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, spoke passionately about the challenges she faces in her academic journey. Relying primarily on digital devices to study due to her impairment, Nwafor explained how the Scholarship had lifted a heavy financial burden and given her renewed hope to pursue her dreams.

Her words of Gratitude resonated deeply, serving as a powerful reminder of the real impact of inclusive educational initiatives. “This Scholarship has changed my story,” she said, acknowledging Senator Umeh’s intervention as a lifeline in her pursuit of higher education.

Moved by her resilience and determination, Senator Victor Umeh responded with empathy, pledging to provide her with a Laptop to further support her studies. He emphasized that education must be accessible to all, regardless of physical challenges, and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that no student in Anambra Central is left behind.

The exchange between the Senator and Miss Nwafor underscored the human side of leadership—where empathy meets action and support goes beyond obligation. For many observers, it was a defining moment that showcased how targeted interventions can transform lives and inspire hope.

Senator Umeh’s scholarship scheme, which has consistently supported students across the district, continues to stand as a beacon of opportunity, while Miss Nwafor’s story reflects the resilience of young Nigerians striving to overcome adversity through education.
