The #EndBadGovernance Movement, Lagos State Chapter, has accused YourWay Bookings and Service Limited of allegedly using legal action to intimidate a former employee, Ms. Jennifer Rita Obiora, following her claims of unpaid salaries and theft of intellectual property.
In a press statement dated January 25, 2026, signed by Comrade Hassan Taiwo Soweto and Oloye Adegboyega-Deniji on behalf of the organising committee of the #EndBadGovernance Movement, Lagos State, the group condemned what it described as a “frivolous defamation suit” filed by the company against Ms. Obiora, urging YourWay Bookings to immediately withdraw the case, settle all outstanding salary arrears, and compensate her for the alleged unauthorised use of her intellectual work.
Ms. Obiora, who served as Project Manager for YourWay Beauty and Services, is said to have developed a formal proposal and operational framework designed to integrate medical professionals into the YourWay App, enabling users to access timely medical assistance.
According to the statement, the framework was later used in launching the app by the Chief Executive Officer of the company. Mr. Achile Akoh without her consent, approval, or compensation.
This action is a theft of Ms. Obiora’s intellectual property by Akoh and the company.
The movement further alleged that Ms. Obiora has not been paid her salaries since November 2025, describing the action as a violation of Nigeria’s labour laws.
It cited provisions of the Labour Act which mandate prompt payment of wages and the binding nature of employment contracts.
The group also expressed concern over the filing of a criminal defamation case against Ms. Obiora at a Magistrate Court in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, despite her residence and work being based in Lagos.
It described the move as an attempt at intimidation, forum shopping, and abuse of legal process aimed at silencing a legitimate labour complaint.
According to the statement, repeated efforts by Ms. Obiora to recover her unpaid salaries and seek redress for the alleged intellectual property theft were unsuccessful, prompting her to express her grievances on social media.
The #EndBadGovernance Movement stated that it stands firmly with Ms. Obiora and will resist any form of harassment, victimisation, or legal bullying against her or any Nigerian worker seeking justice.
It demanded the immediate payment of all outstanding salaries, fair compensation for the alleged intellectual property used, and the withdrawal of all legal actions against her.
