Nigerian Singer Asa Sues Joeboy For Using Her Song Composition On His New Song, Demands 300 Million Naira

Popular Nigerian female singer and songwriter Bukola Elemide, professionally known as Asa, has sued her colleague Joeboy for using her composition on his new song without her consent.

In a copyright infringement document drafted and shared by her legal counsels September 30, Asa accused Joeboy of using her musical composition without permission.

According to the content of the suit that was drafted, it shows that the song Joeboy was accused of stealing was used on his new track ‘Contour’.

Nevertheless, the composition, according to the suit, ended up on Joeboy’s ‘Contour’ without seeking Asa’s knowledge or permission.

Asa commanded that the song should be taken down from all digital platforms within 24hrs and also asks that the sum of 300,000,000 naira be paid as well as 60% publishing split on the song.
