It was another adoption galore as the Aba-Ngwa People’s Forum AKA Aba-Ngwa Youth Congress, the foremost sociocultural group in Aba made up of the indigenous people of Aba North and Aba South adopted Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba Ph.D the APC Senatorial Candidate for Abia South Senatorial District as their candidate for the Senatorial election in the forthcoming 2023 election.

The occasion took place yesterday, Monday 7, Nov at a well attended meeting held at Osusu Aba Civic Hall.
There, Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba led some members of her campaign Council on consultation meeting with the leadership and members of the group.

In her beautiful presentation, Hon Dame Nwagba thanked the leadership of the group for their steadfastness in the struggle for the liberation of Aba.

She told her hosts that she has come to formally inform and seek their support in her Senatorial bid. She said she is in the race as a qualified and experienced woman.

She stated further that she is running the election on the background that she has the legislative experience, exposure, education and the wherewithal to give Abia South Senatorial District quality representation.

As an advocate for women inclusion in governance,she noted that she seeks for qualified women to be given opportunity in leadership positions and as the only woman in the race for Abia South Senatorial district, adding that she has adequate experience to give the good people of Abia South Senatorial district quality representation.
The former lawmaker promised not to disappoint the Aba-Ngwa people, assuring them that when she gets to the red chambers of the National Assembly she will ensure that the needs of the people of Abia South receives adequate federal attention.
She also vowed to lobby for benefits for her zone ensure that most of them are captured in the budget.

She pledged that the youths and women will be given priority attention through attraction of jobs , establishment of Skill acquisition and ICT centres.

”Aba-Ngwa people have qualified men and women to represent the state and country in any capacity and I offer myself to serve my people of Abia South as their Senator come 2023” She submitted.

The immediate past president and the BOT Chairman of Aba-Ngwa People’s Assembly Engr Greg Obinna Ugboaja told the members of the group that Dame Blessing Nwagba is one of them and as such that political party is secondary when it comes to issues that concerns the progress and well-being of Aba Ngwa People. He went further to state that Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba Ph.D has been lending her voice on Aba-Ngwa cause.

On their choice of venue for the day’s event he stated that as the owners of Aba they are at liberty to choose any hall that belongs to their people within the geographical area known as Aba (Aba North and Aba South)
He berated the incumbent senator whom he claimed that his people of Nnetu Ngwa have been supporting without anything to show for their support. He stated further that one would have expected the Senator to interface with the trailer drivers that blocked a section of Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway for close to a week due to the deplorable state of the road because that section of the town is part of the Senatorial District that he represents.

He decried the marginalization of Aba Federal Constituency in Abia South Senatorial District and stated that out of the 3 Federal Constituencies that make up the Senatorial District, it is only Aba Federal Constituency that is yet to produce a Senator. He informed them that Ukwa has had 8 years (2 terms) While Obingwa is completing 16 years (4 terms) in the Senate and therefore stated that for equity, fairness and justice that an Aba person should be given the chance to represent Abia South Senatorial District at the Senate in 2023.
He pleaded with every Aba person to see the candidacy of Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba as a collective project irrespective of party inclination.

He also pointed out that over 150 Aba Ngwa Indigenes benefitted in N-POWER Programme of the Federal Government through Nwagba Foundation and about 200 of their members benefited in the Covid-19 survival Funds through the same body during which individuals got a #30,000 grant. He assured their people that Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba will do more when she is elected in the Senate.

In his own contribution the President of Aba-Ngwa People’s Assembly Comr. Chimezie Nwagba said that it will be unfair and unjust to deny the people of Aba their turn to represent Abia South in the Senate come 2023, insisting that Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba has all the qualifications needed to represent the Senatorial District creditably.

In his own contribution the Deputy Director General of Total Blessing Campaign Council Mr Tony Egu revealed that the Old Bende people living in Aba are in total support of Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba. He disclosed further that he is happy to market her candidacy anywhere because she has all the qualifications needed to represent the good people of Abia South. He described Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba as a lioness because it is not easy for a woman to clinch the Senatorial ticket of the ruling party in the country. He concluded by pleading with the people of Aba Ngwa People’s Forum to support their own to ensure that she emerges victorious in the Senatorial election.

Other speakers included: Hon Stanley Azuka and Chief Onwutebe from Umuogele who in their various speeches harped on the need for the people of Aba to massively support their own and ensure she emerges victorious. Chief Onwutebe assured Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba that he will mobilize support for her from the pro-group that he is leading in his ward.

The highpoint of the event was the adoption of Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba by Aba Ngwa People’s Assembly as their Senatorial Candidate for Abia South Senatorial District through a motion moved by Chief Chimhurunanya from Aba South LGA and was seconded by Prince Solomon Nwachukwu. The BOT Chairman Engr Greg Obinna Ugboaja who through a voice Vote asked those that are in support that Aba Ngwa People’s Forum adopt Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba to say ‘yea’ and those against to say ‘nay’ the entire house chorused ”yea’.

A special prayer was offered for Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba and for her success in her senatorial bid.

A member of Total Blessing Campaign Council Prince Okey Ufomba in his vote of thanks asked the people of Aba Ngwa People’s Assembly to see themselves as partners of Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba in her Senatorial journey and assured them that she will never disappoint them.

Hon Dame Blessing Nwagba was accompanied by Mr Tony Egu Deputy DG of Total Blessing Campaign, Dr C.C. Nwogu a former Chairman of Aba South LGA, Hon Stanley Azuka, Prince Okey Ufomba and many others.
