Governor of Cross River State, Bassey Otu, has called on Christians to embrace hope and unity as they celebrate Easter, extending warm felicitations to the faithful across the state and Nigeria on the occasion of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

In a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Linus Obogo, the governor described Easter as the pinnacle of the Christian faith and a powerful symbol of hope, redemption, sacrifice and the triumph of light over darkness.

Otu said the journey from the crucifixion on Good Friday to the resurrection on Easter Sunday reflects a profound spiritual message—that even in times of adversity and despair, renewal remains possible through faith and perseverance.

“Easter reminds us that after every season of sacrifice comes the dawn of renewal,” he said.

“It is the eternal testimony that faith, love and righteousness will always prevail over trials and tribulations.”

The governor commended Christians for their devotion during the Lenten season and urged them to uphold the virtues of humility, sacrifice, forgiveness and compassion exemplified by Christ in their daily lives.

He noted that the resurrection message calls for unity, urging citizens to rise above bitterness and division, and to embrace peace and love as foundations for collective progress.

Otu further stated that Easter presents an opportunity for Nigerians to reaffirm their commitment to national unity, peaceful coexistence and shared responsibility in building a stronger society.

“As we celebrate this sacred season, let us remember the need to uplift the vulnerable and extend kindness to those in need,” he added.

The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to policies and programmes that promote social harmony, economic growth and inclusive development across Cross River State.

He urged Christians to mark the Easter celebration with gratitude, moderation and generosity, praying that the blessings of the season bring renewed hope, peace and prosperity to the state and the nation.
