The Prince Is Coming Movement in Cross River State has announced plans to stage a massive endorsement rally in support of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Bassey Otu, setting the stage for what organisers describe as the “mother of all rallies” in the state.
Addressing journalists in Calabar, the Director General of the group and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Emmanuel Ironbar, said the rally will hold on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Ikom Township Stadium, and is expected to draw unprecedented participation from across the state.
Ironbar said the movement, which evolved from years of political struggle and grassroots mobilization, is now poised to make a bold statement of support for both leaders, citing their impact on governance and development.
“We are here today because the man we stood for has changed the narrative. His performance across sectors speaks for itself,” he said, referring to Governor Otu’s achievements in infrastructure, youth empowerment, and security.
He noted that the administration has recorded significant strides, including widespread road construction, employment opportunities, and improvements in public services, adding that the state is witnessing a renewed sense of direction.
The Director General also commended President Tinubu for key federal interventions in Cross River State, particularly the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project and the proposed deep seaport, which he said would boost economic growth and reposition the state nationally.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the rally and Special Adviser on General Duties, Chief Ekpenyong Akiba, disclosed that the event is expected to attract over 1.5 million participants, reflecting widespread support for the President Tinubu and the Governor Otu.
He explained that a robust central planning committee has been constituted, with subcommittees handling logistics, security, accommodation, and mobilization to ensure a seamless event.
Akiba further noted that the rally is being funded by members of the movement and supporters, describing it as a voluntary show of appreciation for what he termed purposeful and people-oriented leadership.
“This is beyond politics; it is about appreciation and continuity. Cross Riverians are ready to come out en masse to make a clear statement,” he said.
The Prince Is Coming Movement added that the rally would also serve as a unifying platform for stakeholders, with expectations of increased political alignment ahead of future elections.
