Nigerian comedian and online streamer, Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, popularly known as Carter Efe, has raised concerns over the non-payment of his N50 million prize following his victory in a celebrity boxing match.
Carter Efe, who defeated controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, also known as Portable, in the bout held on Friday, claimed he is yet to receive the promised reward from the event organisers.
In a video circulating on his verified social media platforms, the comedian expressed frustration over the delay, noting that he risked his life during the fight but has not been compensated.
“I never see N50 million. I nearly die for that fight. Make dem pay me my money,” he said in the clip, which has since gone viral.
The boxing match, which attracted significant online attention and celebrity participation, was part of the growing trend of influencer-driven sporting events in Nigeria, blending entertainment with competitive sport.
Following his defeat, Portable alleged that the match was manipulated to favour Carter Efe, claiming the outcome was scripted to avoid paying out large betting sums reportedly staked by fans on his victory. He also accused the referee of bias and cited foul play during the bout.
However, organisers of the event are yet to publicly respond to both Carter Efe’s claims of unpaid prize money and Portable’s allegations regarding the integrity of the match.
The controversy has sparked reactions across social media, with fans calling for transparency from the promoters and timely settlement of financial obligations to maintain credibility in Nigeria’s emerging celebrity boxing scene.
