The Chairman of the Organising Committee of the 2026 Lugbe Deanery Catholic Men Organization (LDCMO) Football Tournament, Brother Sunday Otori, JP, has called on participating teams to see the competition as a means of fostering unity, friendship, and brotherhood.
Brother Otori made the call in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja, as the tournament is billed to commence on Saturday, May 9, 2026, with an opening ceremony scheduled to take place at Super Tech FC Arena, ACO Estate Bridge, Airport Road, Abuja.
The statement reads: “Dear Presidents, Coordinators, and Members of all Parishes and Pastoral Areas, as we draw closer to the opening ceremony of the LDCMO Football Tournament themed ‘Building Bonds of Brotherhood Through Football”, holding on Saturday 9th May, 2026, by 3:00pm prompt, at SUPER TECH FC ARENA, ACO Estate Bridge, Airport Road.
“We warmly encourage every parish and pastoral area to come out en masse to support this great event.
“Your presence will not only cheer and motivate the participating teams but will also strengthen the spirit of unity, friendship, and brotherhood that this tournament is meant to promote within our Deanery. Let us make the opening ceremony colourful, lively, and memorable through our massive turnout and active participation.
“To all our players and officials, we urge you to uphold the true spirit of sportsmanship by playing according to the rules of the game. Let discipline, fairness, respect for referees, and mutual understanding guide every match. Winning is good, but maintaining unity, love, and brotherhood is far more important.
“May this tournament continue to foster peace, friendship, and stronger bonds among all members of LDCMO.
“God bless LDCMO. God bless all participating teams. See you all at the opening ceremony.”
In the opening match, Queen of Martyrs Sabon Lugbe will encounter St. Linus Chike/Aleita. The second match for the day will be between St. Anthony (Paseli) and St. Peter (ACO Estate).
Twenty-six teams from the parishes and pastoral areas within the Lugbe Deanery will partake in the tournament expected to end on June 28, 2026.
