The South West bloc of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has thrown its weight behind frontline presidential aspirant, Hayatu-Deen, ahead of the party’s crucial primary election, describing him as the most competent and unifying figure capable of repositioning Nigeria.
The endorsement followed a strategic meeting of party leaders, youth coordinators, women groups, and stakeholders from the six South West states, where members unanimously pledged support for the banker-turned-politician.
Speaking after the meeting, leaders of the bloc said Hayatu-Deen possesses the leadership qualities, economic expertise, and national appeal needed to steer the country out of its current economic and security challenges.
According to the group, Nigeria requires a visionary leader with a proven track record in management, nation-building, and inclusive governance rather than ethnic or sectional politics.
The South West coordinators noted that Hayatu-Deen’s growing popularity across regions reflects the desire of Nigerians for a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general election.
They also commended his commitment to youth empowerment, economic reforms, industrial growth, and national unity, insisting that his emergence as the ADC candidate would strengthen the party’s chances at the polls.
One of the stakeholders at the meeting said the South West bloc carefully assessed all aspirants before arriving at the decision to support Hayatu-Deen.
“We believe he has the experience, character, and competence to lead Nigeria at this critical moment. Nigerians are tired of empty promises and divisive politics. Hayatu-Deen represents hope, capacity, and a fresh direction for the country,” the stakeholder stated.
The bloc further urged delegates from across the country to support a candidate capable of building a broad national coalition and restoring confidence in governance.
Political observers say the endorsement may boost Hayatu-Deen’s momentum within the party, especially as consultations and alignments intensify ahead of the ADC primary.
The development comes amid increasing political realignments within opposition circles as parties prepare for the 2027 presidential race.
