2027: City Boy Movement Inaugurates Lagos Chapter, Rallies Youths Behind Tinubu’s Re-election

The City Boy Movement on Tuesday formally inaugurated its Lagos State chapter, declaring its readiness to mobilise millions of youths and grassroots supporters in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The inauguration ceremony, held at Marcellina’s Place, Ikeja, Lagos, drew a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, youth groups, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Director-General of the City Boy Movement in Lagos State and Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, described the inauguration as a significant milestone in expanding youth participation in politics and national development.
According to him, the movement is not only designed to mobilise electoral support for President Tinubu but also to nurture a generation of responsible young Nigerians committed to nation-building.
“Today is far more than the inauguration of another state chapter. It is about mobilising and empowering Nigerian youths to become more responsible and committed to the development of our country,” Ogunlewe said.
He observed that although young people constitute the majority of Nigeria’s population, many remain disengaged from civic responsibilities and governance.
Ogunlewe explained that the movement would promote patriotism, constitutional democracy, discipline, unity and grassroots development while encouraging greater youth participation in governance.
He said the organisation would work to deepen public support for the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda through sustained grassroots engagement across the country’s 774 local government areas.
“Our strategy is to reach every ward, every community and every polling unit. Every Nigerian youth is welcome to join this movement because our vision extends beyond elections to creating opportunities for young people and building a stronger nation,” he added.
The National Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Mr. Tosin Shoga, described the Lagos inauguration as another important step in strengthening the organisation’s nationwide structure.
According to him, the movement has continued to evolve into a platform for educating Nigerians on government policies while encouraging constructive participation in democratic governance.
“The City Boy Movement has become a vehicle for taking the Renewed Hope Agenda to every corner of the country. Our mission is to bridge the gap between government and the grassroots by ensuring that citizens understand and support programmes aimed at national development,” he said.
Shoga urged members of the newly inaugurated executive council to demonstrate integrity, discipline and selfless leadership, stressing that true leadership is measured by positive impact on society.
The Director-General for Local Governments of the movement and Chairman of Conference 57, Hon. Sesan Olowa, who also serves as Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, pledged the support of council chairmen across Lagos State for the movement’s activities.
He expressed confidence that the organisation would strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure ahead of the next general elections.
“We will leave no stone unturned in ensuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu records a resounding victory in Lagos State in 2027,” Olowa declared.
National Secretary of the movement, Mr. Tosin Odufuwa, said the initiative provides a platform for young Nigerians to participate meaningfully in politics and leadership, while Co-Patron of the movement, Amir Kashim Shettima (Jnr.), urged members to remain committed to the vision of building a better Nigeria.
Also addressing the gathering, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement, Moremi Ojudu, urged members to serve as ambassadors of the administration by taking its policies and programmes to the grassroots.
She highlighted infrastructure renewal, increased allocations to states and local governments, education reforms, healthcare investments and youth-focused initiatives as some of the achievements of the Tinubu administration.
Similarly, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), Hon. Abdullahi Tanko Yakassai, said support for President Tinubu continues to grow across northern Nigeria, citing initiatives such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), road infrastructure and economic reforms as evidence of the administration’s commitment to national development.
The South-West Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, charged members to uphold discipline, loyalty and dedication in carrying out the objectives of the organisation.
He disclosed that the South-West chapter had set a target of delivering eight million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Representing the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, the party’s State Vice Chairman, Hon. Moshood Maiyegun, described the City Boy Movement as a strategic platform for increasing youth participation in politics and governance.
He urged young people to collaborate with experienced political leaders in building a stronger democratic culture and sustaining the achievements of the APC-led administration.
The event also featured the screening of a documentary showcasing the vision, activities and achievements of the City Boy Movement, while popular Nigerian music star 9ice entertained guests with live performances.
Among dignitaries present were the Founder of the City Boy Movement, Barrister Oluwaseyi Tinubu; National Director-General, Mr. Tosin Shoga; Lagos Director-General of the movement, Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe; representatives of the Lagos State APC leadership; local government chairmen; traditional rulers; youth leaders; and other prominent political stakeholders.
The inauguration marks a significant expansion of the City Boy Movement’s organisational structure in Lagos State as the group intensifies grassroots mobilisation, youth engagement and political advocacy in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
