The Association of Landowners in Winhomes Estate, Okun Ajah, Lagos State, today Tuesday, 3rd February announced that its members have formally and lawfully taken possession of their lands within the estate, following what they described as a final judicial resolution of ownership disputes.
The announcement was made at a world press briefing held in Lagos by the association in collaboration with the Coalition of Civil Society Organisations for Good Governance.
They pledged to comply with all statutory pre-construction requirements, including payment of land use charges and other government dues.
The briefing, the association noted was convened to inform the general public, investors and relevant authorities of the current ownership status of Winhomes Estate, located along the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road corridor.
Addressing journalists, the landowners in their Press statement read out by Chief Charles Mbah said the Federal High Court, Lagos Division, had conclusively settled earlier disputes over the land in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/1803/2024.
A good number of association’s members were present at the briefing including: Chief Kingsley Udochukwu, Chief Obiora Divine, Chief Valentine Ifeanyi, Eze Anthony, Chief Richard and Chief Okafor among others.
They cited a ruling delivered on November 21, 2025, by Justice Akintayo Aluko, which held that Winhomes Estate Global Services Limited had divested itself of all proprietary interests in the land, having sold it to third parties, and therefore lacked the legal standing to institute or maintain any action in respect of the property.
According to the association, the court consequently struck out the suit, paving the way for the landowners to lawfully assume possession of their respective parcels of land.
“On the strength of this judgment, we have today, Tuesday, February 3, 2026, formally taken possession of our lands within Winhomes Estate,” the association said.
The landowners also announced plans to commence and resume development activities in the estate, while assuring compliance with all statutory requirements, including payment of land use charges and all relevant government dues.
They expressed support for the Federal Government’s Lagos–Calabar Coastal Road project and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the project would deliver significant economic benefits to the country.
However, they appealed to the federal government to compensate members whose lands were affected by the coastal road construction, either through monetary compensation or re-allocation of alternative land.
”As meaningful portions of our land have been consumed by the coastal road project, we respectfully appeal to the government to show magnanimity by compensating affected landowners, either monetarily or through re-allocation of alternative land,” the association said.
The association urged the federal government to audit activities going on in the management of the Winhomes Estate, under the leadership of Madam Ifeoma Okongwu, cautioning New buyers to be aware as there are no more land for sale within the estate.
Commending the Federal Ministry of Works, led by Minister David Umahi, for its role in driving major infrastructure projects, the association reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful engagement, respect for the rule of law and cooperation with relevant government agencies.
The landowners also called on the media to uphold professionalism and factual reporting, stressing the importance of accurate information in promoting stability, investor confidence and national development.
Some members carried posters to express their dissatisfaction on the deceptive manner the management of the estate is carried out.
Some of the placards read: President Tinubu, Protect our renewed hope agenda, “Don’t let con artists scam the investor”. ” Ifeoma: Why are you reselling our land?” ” No possession no access ” “Stop collecting 12.5 million development fee for empty land” among others.
Some association members who spoke with Nigeria News Mark, disclosed that some of them bought the land as far back as 2020 and 2021, claiming that Madam Ifeoma has been dribbling them given one reason after another.
They warned the public, especially those that might be lured to buy some plots from the land to beware as genuine owners have taken ownership of their Land.
