The Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has been described as an inclusive and compassionate leader whose administration has promoted peace, unity and development in the state.

The governor’s Special Adviser on General Duties, Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, stated this in a birthday message to celebrate Otu’s 67th birthday.

Akiba, who praised the governor’s leadership style, described him as a unifying figure whose humility, kindness and commitment to public service had earned him the admiration of many residents.

He said Otu’s accommodating and forgiving disposition had helped bridge political and social divisions in the state, adding that the governor deserved to be celebrated for his contributions to Cross River.

“His Excellency, Governor Bassey Edet Otu, is an inclusive, accommodating and forgiving leader whom many rightly describe as a true unifier. Looking at his noble character and disposition, I sincerely join well-wishers at all levels to celebrate him,” Akiba said.

The special adviser said the birthday celebration provided an opportunity to encourage the governor to sustain his commitment to peace, unity and development through his administration’s People First philosophy and Season of Sweetness agenda.

He added that the celebration came at a time when the state was witnessing efforts to improve infrastructure and human capital development.

Akiba expressed optimism about Otu’s political future, saying he believed the governor’s leadership would earn him another term in office.

He described the anticipated second-term celebration as a reflection of the confidence he had in the governor’s leadership and his ability to sustain the administration’s development agenda.

According to him, Otu has consistently preferred modest birthday celebrations, urging associates and supporters to use such occasions to extend assistance to vulnerable members of society.

“In line with his long-standing tradition, His Excellency avoids loud celebrations. Instead, he always advises us to reach out to those in need and share the blessings of the ‘Season of Sweetness’ with the people, a trajectory we proudly continue to follow,” Akiba added.

The special adviser also congratulated the First Lady, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu, and members of the governor’s family, describing them as important pillars of support for his administration.

He prayed for the governor’s continued good health, strength and wisdom to lead the state towards greater development and prosperity.

“Happy birthday, Your Excellency! May you continue to ascend from greatness to greatness in excellent health, divine speed and strength, bringing more prosperity to Cross River State and all Cross Riverians. God bless your new age,” he said.

Otu, a former senator, assumed office as governor of Cross River State in May 2023. His administration operates under the People First philosophy, with the Season of Sweetness serving as a central theme of its development agenda.

Akiba’s message added to the tributes marking the governor’s birthday, with the special adviser expressing confidence in Otu’s leadership and prospects ahead of the next governorship election.
