The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed the unveiling and inauguration of its National Campaign Council, initially scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, to Monday, October 26, 2026.
The party attributed the postponement to the busy schedule of its presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, who is currently attending to engagements overseas.
The NDC National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, October 19.
According to the statement, the decision was taken to accommodate Obi’s schedule and ensure the successful conduct of the ceremony.
The party apologised to stakeholders, members and supporters for any inconvenience caused by the change in date.
It also urged its members to remain focused on the party’s electoral objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this shift and urge everyone not to lose focus on the goal of ensuring victory for our presidential candidate and all NDC candidates in the forthcoming presidential and general elections,” the statement read.
The inauguration of the National Campaign Council is expected to form part of the party’s preparations for the forthcoming elections.
The council is expected to play a central role in coordinating campaign activities and mobilising support for Obi and other NDC candidates across the country.
