In keeping his promise to release free buses specifically for conveying Abia indigenes back to Abia State from Lagos this December 2025, the state governor, Dr. Alex Otti, said he has fulfilled his promise as over 20 buses have been released for the exercise.
Speaking on the exercise, Lagos State Liaison Officer, Mrs Ugochi Bessie Essienette, who represented the governor as the exercise kicked off in Lagos on Saturday 20th December said, “It is a fulfilment of the promise made by the Abia state government Dr. Alex Otti. Gov. Otti also ordered the release of buses last year that conveyed almost a thousand indigenes home.”

She disclosed further that “The release of these free buses is not limited to Lagos but to some other few major cities, including Abuja. Our governor (Dr. Otti) is a promise keeper, and what we have witnessed is in fulfilment of that promise,”.
Bessie said the first batch left on Saturday, disclosing that the exercise would continue till the 23rd of December 2025.
She noted further that the state government had also provided free urban mass transit for the Christmas and New Year period within the state.
“Don’t forget that the state government has also introduced electric buses as part of efforts to modernize public transportation in Abia State, with the first batch of 20 buses having arrived in the state,” she explained.
Nigeria News Mark gathered from the organizers that not less than 1,220 travellers will be transported from the south west zone to Abia State.
While commending Gov. Otti at the event, Executive Director, Igbo Ndi-Oma Africa TV, Prince Obinna Orji, said, “Gov. Otti is delivering democracy dividends to the joy of all Abians. He has elevated governance in the state.”
