The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, has lauded Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, for ongoing improvements in road infrastructure and the installation of solar-powered streetlights across the state.
Ogunwole gave the commendation during the university’s 23rd inaugural lecture, which drew dignitaries from government, academia, and other sectors.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor praised the governor’s emphasis on infrastructure, noting that the upgraded road network has significantly improved mobility for residents and visitors.
He also underscored the impact of the solar-powered streetlights on major roads, describing them as a major boost to security and nighttime travel.
“I can now travel at night from work on a smooth road. Thank you, Mr Governor, for the good work,” he said.
Ogunwole added that the improvements have enabled safer and more comfortable driving at night, as better lighting has reduced fears associated with late-hour travel.
The professor further noted that the ongoing projects reflect the administration’s commitment to enhancing living standards and driving development in the state.
According to him, the initiatives are positioning Ekiti for sustainable growth while fostering a conducive environment for education, business, and investment.
He also commended the state government’s support for tertiary institutions, stressing that sustained collaboration between government and academia remains essential for overall development.
