The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the ceremony took place in Jerusalem on Monday.
The ministry said, “The presentation of the Letters of Credence formally marks the commencement of her diplomatic assignment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Israel and reaffirms the Federal Government’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding cordial relations between Nigeria and Israel.”
Speaking after the ceremony, according to Channels Television, Ufochukwu conveyed the goodwill of President Bola Tinubu and the people of Nigeria to the Government and people of Israel, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening relations between both countries.
She identified trade and investment, agriculture and food security, technology and innovation, defence and security cooperation, and healthcare, as well as cultural and people-to-people exchanges as priority areas during her tenure.
President Herzog, while receiving the Nigerian envoy, “expressed Israel’s readiness to work closely with Nigeria to advance shared interests, particularly in innovation and counter-terrorism.”
Ufochukwu is among the 65 ambassadors-designate whose postings were approved by President Bola Tinubu on March 6, 2026, following their confirmation by the Senate in December 2025. The appointments comprised 34 career diplomats and 31 political ambassadors.
