The Obidient Movement has appointed Dr Moses Paul as its new national coordinator, succeeding Dr. Yunusa Tanko, who previously led the movement.
The leadership change took place on Sunday, September 30, 2026, following a virtual engagement between the state coordinators of the Obidient Movement and the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, Peter Obi.
Paul’s emergence marks a new phase in the leadership of the movement, which has remained a major support platform for Obi since the 2023 presidential election.
Tanko had served as the national coordinator of the movement, coordinating its activities and engagement with supporters across the country.
The decision to appoint Dr Paul followed the virtual session involving the state coordinators and Obi, during which issues concerning the organisation and direction of the movement were discussed.
The new helmsman is expected to take charge of the coordination of the movement’s activities across the country as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
The Obidient Movement, which grew substantially during the 2023 presidential election, comprises supporters of Obi drawn from different political, professional and social groups.
The leadership transition is expected to provide a fresh structure for coordinating the movement’s grassroots activities and engagement with its supporters ahead of the 2027 elections.
