The widow of Engineer Chukwudi Ordu, Mrs. Gift Ordu, has appealed to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma and the State Commissioner of Police to investigate the circumstances surrounding her husband’s death.
Engineer Ordu, 38, was allegedly shot dead by a joint team of Tiger Base special anti-kidnap police unit and ENTRACO officials on October 29, 2025, at Toronto area of Owerri.
Speaking to journalists, Mrs. Ordu recounted the tragic event, saying her husband was killed after being caught in a fracas between government agents and residents.
“He came home, parked his car, and asked me and our six children to move inside the house, saying it was dangerous for people to be running around,” she said.
“He stood outside, watching what was happening, and within minutes, we heard gunshots. He ran to our neighbor’s house, but was shot by operatives suspected to be Tiger Base and ENTRACO people.”
Mrs. Ordu expressed concern about the future of her six children, aged 17 to 8 months, as their breadwinner is no more.
“We spent over N5 million on his treatment, and he died on November 1, 2025, after surgery at FMC Owerri. No government official has contacted us since then,” she said.
The widow is seeking justice and accountability, urging the government to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to book.
