Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has said the massive turnout at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention in Abuja over the weekend reflects growing momentum for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking with journalists at the convention, Otu described the large crowd and high level of enthusiasm among party members as evidence of a strengthening political base for the President ahead of the next election cycle.

According to the governor, the atmosphere at the event underscored unity, stability, and confidence in Tinubu’s leadership.

He noted that the convention demonstrated not only the strength of the ruling party but also a broader national alignment with the administration’s direction.

“The energy here speaks to unity, stability, and clear policy direction. We are focused on moving forward,” Otu said, adding that the event had set the tone for future political engagements.

He further described the convention as a significant moment in Nigeria’s democratic journey, arguing that the turnout amounted to an endorsement of the administration’s performance so far.

Otu maintained that achievements recorded within a relatively short period have contributed to the rising support for the President.

Highlighting the importance of the gathering, the governor said the convention served as a platform to galvanise party structures nationwide, reaffirm loyalty among stakeholders, and build momentum for upcoming elections.

He added that the APC is entering its next phase more united and purpose-driven.
Otu also pointed to the strong representation from Cross River State as a demonstration of unwavering support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, noting that key political figures from the state were present in solidarity.

Also speaking, former Cross River State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade, said the success of the convention reflects the internal strength of the APC and positions it for future electoral victories.

Ayade commended the party’s consensus-driven approach, describing it as a mechanism that promotes unity and cohesion within its ranks.

“Consensus reflects a higher level of democratic engagement. It shows unity and shared purpose, which are critical for the party’s progress,” he said.

He also highlighted the cordial relationship between himself and Governor Otu, describing it as a model of political harmony and continuity in Cross River State.

Both leaders agreed that the convention has reinforced the APC’s unity and sent a strong signal of readiness to secure another electoral mandate for President Tinubu.
