The Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Peace, Security, Good Governance, Equity and Justice commends CP Jimoh Moshood, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, for ensuring a peaceful Eyo Festival, held after eight years.
The Eyo Festival, a traditional Yoruba procession dating back to the 19th century, honors ancestors and marks significant occasions.
This year’s celebration paid tribute to four prominent Lagosians: Brigadier-General Mobolaji Johnson, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, Sir Michael Otedola, and Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, mother of President Bola Tinubu.

Coalition of Civil Society Groups, it noted that the largely peaceful celebration is a testament to CP Moshood’s diligence and modern policing strategies, in synergy with other security agencies.
“It also demonstrates President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to promoting culture and peaceful co-existence.” the release stated.
The Eyo Festival, also known as Adamu Orisha Play, showcases Lagos’ rich cultural heritage, promoting unity and identity. Its revival after eight years is a significant milestone, highlighting the importance of preserving traditional values amidst modernization.
“We applaud CP Moshood’s efforts in maintaining law and order, ensuring the festival’s success.
“We reaffirm our commitment to promoting peace, security, and cultural development in Nigeria.
“We commend CP Moshood’s laudable strategies for tackling crime and addressing security challenges in the state.”
