The Yaba Magistrate Court in Lagos on Friday ordered the release musical instruments and other items seized by the police during the January 28, 2026 anti-demolition rally at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Magistrate I. O. Alaka gave the order in a ruling on an application by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mr Femi Falana, on behalf of his clients Mr. Hassan Taiwo Soweto and Mr. Dele Frank.
Activists Soweto and Frank are alleged by the police to have committed public disorder offences during the protest, a claim they have rejected.
The case has been adjourned till August 31, for further trial.
